Michigan

I have not posted since our trip to Europe over a year ago so I figured I would try and post again.  And I thought I would start posting on a new blog site to start fresh.

We are in Michigan right now for Hailey's graduation.  We got here on Sunday.  Jenny and I flew into Detroit and drove up to Bay City.  We have decided it is much easier to do that rather than fly into Flint.  The drive from Detroit is 2 hours.  The flight we took from Houston was nonstop to Detroit so that's always good.  If you fly into Flint, you have to have a layover somewhere.  When Jenny flew here in March, her layover was 3 hours in Cleveland.  By the time you fly and layover and drive the hour from Flint, it actually takes longer than flying to Detroit and driving 2 hours.

After we got to Bay City on Sunday night, we went to dinner at Lucky's Steakhouse and then came home and hung out at home.  On Monday, we went and had coffee at Brewtopia in downtown Bay City with Hailey after she finished her last high school exam.  We then went to Target and picked out some stuff for her college dorm.  We picked Meghan up from school that afternoon and went home and hung out for a little while.  We had smoothies for an afternoon snack.  Monday night we went to a restorative yoga class at Heart in Hands here in Bay City.  The class was excellent.  To finish the night, we went to the Bay City 8 movie theater and saw Bridesmaids.  Hilarious movie.

On Tuesday, Meghan took the day off from school so we all got to hang out together.  We went to Mornin' at Maggies for breakfast.  It is a cute little omelet shop in downtown Bay City.  It is also delicious.  We then went to Saginaw which is about 15 miles away and much bigger than Bay City to do some dorm shopping for Hailey.  Saginaw is also where the closest Starbucks is located which makes Jenny happy.  We went to Best Buy afterwards and got Hailey a printer.  The girls also both got new headphones.  Bed Bath & Beyond was next door so we went there and got a bunch of stuff for Hailey's dorm.  After that, we went to Kohl's and the girls got some yoga clothes and dresses.  We then went and had a snack at Old City Hall restaurant in downtown Bay City.  Tuesday evening included another yoga class at the Heart in Hands studio.  This time it was a hatha class.  After yoga, we went to G's pizza for dinner and then came home and watched a movie.  We watched a movie called "Food Matters."  It is a documentary.  The movie was pretty good.  It had a lot of good facts in it.  It was an hour and 15 minutes long and basically said the same thing over and over.  It could have been a short film and been about 10 minutes long and said the same information.  That was my only complaint about it.  Then we went to bed.  Or at least I tried to go to bed.  Jenny decided it was a good time to watch another documentary on the computer while laying next to me in bed.  It was really bright and I think she had to volume on MAX.  I couldn't get to sleep because it was loud and too bright for me.  Finally, I fell asleep.

Meghan also took Wednesday off so we were all together again for the day.  Hailey had an appointment at a salon at 10 so we dropped her off and Meghan, Jenny, and myself went and hung out at Brewtopia.  We had delicious coffee and played around on our computers.  Jenny was working on camp stuff while we were there.  We picked Hailey up and went and had lunch at The Atrium Cafe.  Our afternoon activity today was painting pottery.  I painted a stein.  It was fantastic.  I really have no artistic ability.  We went and got a few more things at Target after that and now we are just hanging out at home.  Hailey has a graduation party and Meghan has a meeting to go to tonight.  Jenny and I will be hanging out at home while they are gone and Jenny is going to be making dinner tonight.  I think we are having soup.  It has been an ugly day outside today.  It is chilly and rainy.  It has not made it out of the 50's today.  We have seen rain 3 times since we've been here.  That is 3 times as much as we have seen at home in the last 4 months.

On Thursday morning, we are going to Pilates at 5:30 AM.  I'm really interested to see who actually goes to the class.

That is enough for now.  I will try and write some more in a few days to describe the rest of our trip.  I will also post some pictures when I get a chance.
